Frequently Asked Questions
Who is OAK for? Any fourth or fifth grader may join. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate by reading the books and discussing them with their child. The more the parent is involved in a dialogue about the book, the more the child will take away from the experience. Parents are invited to attend all or part of each meeting.
When and where does OAK meet? We will meet in Mr. Speno’s room from 3:15 to 4:15 on the second Monday of every month. Everyone is encouraged to attend even if they haven’t completed the recommended book.
What will we do at the meetings? We will take part in activities and discussions that may begin from the recommended reading but will always come back to the individual and the group. Expect plenty of sharing, creativity and food.
