Welcome to Studio Art web pages!

This is my tenth year teaching at Cincinnati Country Day School.  In addition to teaching, I continue my work as an artist.  My favorite media are paint, oil pastel, and photography.  I often use photographs as a beginning point for my images.  I also enjoy travel, reading, gardening, music and movies.  I grew up in Toledo, Ohio and have lived in New York, Iowa, Texas, Virginia, and now, back to Ohio.

The Studio Art program in the Upper School at Cincinnati Country Day School provides opportunities for all of our students.  We seek to nurture young artists and, as importantly, a future audience for the visual arts - in Cincinnati and wherever in the world our students' lives take them.

Our program is always a work in progress.  With revisions of familiar classes and additions of fresh material every semester, faculty learn along with students.  Exhibitions of student work in the halls of Country Day give young artists the opportunity to share their ideas and accomplishments with the entire school community.  Moving out into the larger community, in the past several years our students have placed work in the Xavier University High School Art Exhibition, the Regional and National Scholastics Art Competition, and the Governor's Youth Art Award Competition.  Country Day students have consistently submitted successful Advanced Placement Portfolios in 2-D Design and Drawing.

It is my hope that we will continue as a work in  progress, responding to changing student needs and interests, exciting paths of inquiry and a synthesis of traditional media and new technology.
