Students with Learning Differences If your child has been tested by a psychiatrist, psychologist, educational specialist, or physician and you have written documentation stating that he/she has been diagnosed to have a learning disorder that would require extended time during tests both at school and for standardized testing, please complete the following steps: 1. Be sure that your child has a current accommodation plan on file with the school that states that they are receiving extended time in the classroom and that they require extended time during standardized testing. 2. If the accommodation plan is not current or you need to request an accommodation plan meeting, call 979-0223 to schedule an appointment with Stephanie Luebbers to have your plan updated. 3. Come to the College Counseling Office to pick up the College Board SSD (Services for Students with Disabilities) form. This will apply for accommodations for the PSAT, SAT, SAT II, AP, and TOEFL exams. 4. Complete pages 1 and 2 only and return the forms to the College Counseling Office. 5. Be sure that both the parent and the student have signed the forms. 6. These steps should be complete by February 25th in order for your child to be approved in time to test with extended time during Advanced Placement tests and/or the May SAT. 7. ACT accommodation approval is another process and forms can be obtained in the College Counseling Office. 8. Please call the College Counseling Office if you need more detailed information. If approved by the College Board you will not need to submit another request for extended time while you are in high school.
